Calling herself an introvert, Cain recalled an incident from her childhood where she was made to suppress her introvert self and to act as an extrovert. Talking of the same she said, “I got the message that somehow my quiet and introvert style of being was not necessarily the right way to go,” she continued telling her story describing how she then tried to act extrovert. “I always sensed deep down this was very wrong and that introverts were pretty excellent as they were, but for years I denied these intuitions and so, I became a lawyer,”she said. She further said that she made self negating choices so reflexively that she wasn’t even aware that she was making them. She explains how it is completely fine to be an extrovert as the world needs them to be like that for them to bring out their best. It’s kind of counter intuitive for a lot of artists — they don’t want to ask for things.
