Why studying abroad is a brilliant idea!
Spending a year or two of your life in a country other than your home country is one of the most challenging decisions anyone has to make. To top it, if you are a student then god save you from all the tough thinking, planning and choosing to do! From which university to study in to the course you’re going to undertake – it’s all a lengthy tedious process (for which we’re always there)! But these issues become lesser stressful when you look at the bigger picture. This is why studying abroad is a brilliant idea –
1. Exposures like never before – You could be a topper in your school and an ace player of your basketball team. But when you step out of your country and see people from all over the world compete with you – you’re facing the real world my friend! The exposure that studying abroad brings you in terms of experiences and competition from multi-cultural population, you only work harder and grow better.
2. A wider perspective – When you step out of the company of people who are like you and begin living with people from all religion, cultures and nationalities, you’re learning something new every minute. Things you never knew are introduced to you at a lightening fast speed everyday. And in this entire process of learning the new and unlearning the irrelevant you develop a litany of wider perspectives. In layman language we call it becoming a better person with more open thoughts!
3. Understanding human behaviour – When you change your country, predictability vanishes and your life is filled with everything new. New malls, new grocery outlets, new people, new colleagues etc. Under the stress of dealing with this massive change, you tend to analyse human behaviour differently. You get a better understanding of people as you’re dealing with them on your own. Amidst all this you learn to build a friendly rapport with everyone and get rid of your inhibitions regarding people.
4. Better education opportunities – The most important reason of studying abroad is to get better opportunities in terms of academia. The most prestigious universities of the world belong to different countries. However hard it is to get admission in them, the end result is completely satisfactory for the reputation it brings. This cannot be achieved in your own country and one has to decide to relocate. A good education is an investment you make for a lifetime and even if you have to travel oceans for it, it is totally worth it!
